Municipal Water & Wastewater
Improving the quality of life for people throughout British Columbia and Alberta has always been our passion. Assisting communities to create and maintain high standards in drinking water quality and wastewater management is just one of the ways we live that passion. We have invested considerable resources in researching water conservation and demand management strategies from the United States and around the world. In 1991, we developed the first water conservation strategy to be used by a community in British Columbia – a strategy that is now serving as a model for other communities across Canada.
Our expertise is not only helping our clients to meet new and more stringent legislative requirements around drinking water quality, but is helping them to lead the way for others. For example, Urban Systems was extensively involved in the design and development of the Kamloops Centre for Water Quality which was commissioned in 2005. This facility uses innovative membrane filtration technology and has received national acclaim as one of the most sophisticated, innovative and environmentally advanced water treatment plants in North America.
We believe firmly in stewardship of the environment and offer expertise in the fields of water conservation, demand management and environmentally appropriate methods of wastewater treatment. In 2005, Urban Systems received the Engineering Award of Excellence for work relating to the Town of Golden’s Sewage Treatment and disposal upgrade. An innovative process design and environmental expertise resulted in an estimated $3.3 million cost savings to the client.
